Raising A Dollar does one thing: ask a very large number of people for one dollar, and account for it properly. It is not a program, a charity, or a service provider. It is the front door.

This site
Raising A Dollar is the fundraising campaign. It collects gifts and publishes the accounting. It holds no funds of its own.
Xstream Foundation
The 501(c)(3) that receives every gift and makes the grants. EIN XX-XXXXXXX. This is the legal recipient named on your receipt.
Xstream Elite
A for-profit consultancy that built and operates this property. Its relationship to the foundation is governed by a written agreement, published on the Where It Goes page.
Why spell that out? Because a donor is entitled to know whether the people asking for money benefit from it, and in what way. Vagueness on this point is the most common reason small foundations lose trust. We would rather be boring and specific.
Why a dollar, and not a suggestion.
Most giving pages present a menu and let you feel your way to a number. That design optimizes for the donor who was always going to give. It does nothing for the far larger group who scrolled past, meant well, and closed the tab.
A fixed, unembarrassing, universally affordable ask removes the deliberation entirely. It converts people who would never have picked a number. And once someone has given a dollar, they are a donor — a relationship that is worth far more over time than the dollar was.
